Energy-efficient upgrades at the Multiplex

Energy-Efficient Upgrades at the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex

The Town of Grimshaw is excited to announce the completion of energy-efficient lighting upgrades at the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex. Finished earlier this spring, the project was made possible through support from the Community Energy Conservation (CEC) Program, administered by the Municipal Climate Change Action Centre (MCCAC) and funded by the Government of Alberta.

New LED lighting was installed in the Northern Air Walking Track, Les Shaw Fitness Centre, all three courts in the Field House, and above the bleacher seating and ice surface in the Arena. The upgrades were completed by Intersteller Electric Ltd., led by Wayne Wald.

“These upgrades are a meaningful investment in our infrastructure and our community,” says Mayor Wendy Wald. “Not only are we improving the experience for visitors and staff, but we’re also reducing our environmental footprint and lowering operational costs.”

The Community Energy Conservation Program provides financial rebates to help municipalities identify energy-saving opportunities and implement energy-efficient retrofits in municipally owned buildings. Projects like this help create more comfortable, sustainable public spaces for all to enjoy.

The MCCAC is a partnership of Alberta Municipalities, the Rural Municipalities of Alberta, and the Government of Alberta. Funding for the Community Energy Conservation Program was provided by the Government of Alberta.
