Members of Town Council

Mayor

Wendy Wald

My husband Mel and I have lived in this Community our entire lives. We have raised our two children Corey and Randi here in Grimshaw. They now have their families living, working and playing here. Mel has been employed at Mercer for 30 plus years and Corey is also employed there. Corey & Kristen are raising our grandboys Easton and Hayes. Kristen has a home based business Little Crocuses. Randi owns & operates Just for Looks Hair Salon while her husband Carson is a teacher at Holy Family School. Our family has roots in this community. It is a privilege to have been elected as Mayor of Grimshaw. I am indeed grateful. I look forward to serving the people in our community and working with the new Council for the greater good of all. I love this Community.

Deputy Mayor

Stacey Messner

I am starting my second term as Councillor for the Town of Grimshaw. I married into a Peace country family and I have lived in Grimshaw since 2011.  I am educated and have worked in the field of Human Resources for over 20 years. I currently operate a HR consulting practice for businesses in the Peace Region.  I value my community and what is important to me is creating a sense of belonging for all individuals in the Town of Grimshaw.

Councillor

Stephen Hennings

My wife and I along with our two children moved to Grimshaw in 2014. We enjoy the small town friendly atmosphere that Grimshaw has to offer and find that it is a great place to raise a family. I am an active volunteer in several minor sports programs as I enjoy giving back to the community. I joined the Town Council because I wanted to contribute more to this community and I feel that I will be a valuable asset to the decision-making team.

Councillor

Colleen Sklapsky

colleen.sklapsky@grimshaw.ca

I was born and raised in Grimshaw and have chosen to raise my family here.  Grimshaw is where my roots are.  Grimshaw is my “hometownforever” town.  Community service and political engagement was just part of growing up in my home.  From the time I was very young my parents instilled in me that giving back was not optional in our society. Volunteerism is one of the most rewarding things you can do for yourself and your community.  I have had the pleasure to sit on many volunteer boards and committees over the past 50 years here in Grimshaw.  Over those years, I have learned that the talents and passion of our community members is endless.  Please reach out to me – let me know what you see in our Town that is good, what is great and what you think needs to be done better.  I always enjoy connecting with other people that share this great Town of ours.  Being elected again to serve as councillor will grant me the privilege to be involved in keeping our town as the best in the region to live, work and play.

I am particularly interested in enhancing local services and fostering community engagement, while also addressing emerging needs and opportunities. By leveraging my experience and local knowledge, I aim to drive meaningful progress. Having called Grimshaw home for over 40 years, I am deeply passionate about the facilities, services, and people that make our town special. Having gained over 20 years of municipal council experience in Grimshaw, I am eager and happy to support the Council in continuing its excellent work for our community, and I look forward to contributing to Grimshaw’s ongoing growth and success.

Councillor

Lynn Florence

lynn.florence@grimshaw.ca

Having grown up in municipal affairs, I’m passionate about local governance and eager to contribute to Grimshaw. My previous roles as Director for Smoky River FCSS and Economic Development Officer for Northern Sunrise County have equipped me with valuable experience for serving as a councillor. I aim to drive growth and collaboration in the Peace Region, inspired by projects like a potential nuclear power plant that could boost local business and retain youth. Grimshaw’s unique stores, affordable housing, and thoughtful community planning have impressed me, and the warm, welcoming residents make it an ideal place to call home. I’m excited to help shape Grimshaw’s future and contribute to its development.
