Carmen Johnson

Born and raised in Grimshaw, I have deep roots in our community. My father, Frank Donis, was the first mayor of the Village of Grimshaw when it was just incorporated, so I’ve been immersed in municipal government from a young age. I’m passionate about making a positive difference in our town and bring a wealth of experience in various areas of governance, including serving on local and regional health boards, as well as ten years on the school board. This is my first term on the Town Council.

Outside of my civic duties, I have a large, loving family—three children, three stepchildren, 11 grandchildren, and 10 great-grandchildren, two of whom have already graduated high school. I am a proud 50-year member of Royal Purple in both Berwyn and Grimshaw.

My professional background includes 12 years as Chair of the Citizens Appeal Committee, covering areas from Grande Prairie to High Level, as well as serving on several provincial committees, including the Municipal Government Board (formerly known as the Municipal Government Board). I also managed the Mighty Peace Tourism Association for 14 years.

I hold a certification in the organization and management of non-profit organizations from the University of Western Ontario, specializing in strategic planning. Additionally, I am an Alberta Best trainer in customer service.

As a lifelong resident of Grimshaw, I am committed to serving our community with dedication and a focus on improving our town for future generations.
