Town Council Appoints New Chief

            Administrative Officer

Council is pleased to announce that Olive Toews has been selected as the new Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of Grimshaw.  She will be assuming her role and responsibilities on November 3, 2025.

This is the key leadership position within the Town Administration and we are fortunate to have attracted strong candidates from across Alberta and western Canada.

Being a true local, Olive resides in the Town of Grimshaw with her family, and she brings a wealth of education, experience, and commitment to her new role.  She is currently a Director with Northern Sunrise County, and has been for the previous eight years.  She began as the Director of Legislative Services and Human Resources, and then later transitioned into the Director of Finance role. Prior to Northern Sunrise County, she served as the CAO for the Village of Berwyn for well over five years.

In addition to direct and relevant hands-on leadership experience in local government, Olive possesses a Business Administration Certificate, an Advanced Certificate in Local Authority Administration (Level I and Level II), as well as her Certified Local Government Manager (CLGM) designation.

Council is confident that with the addition of Olive Toews to the already existing solid administrative team, the Town of Grimshaw will continue its positive progressive momentum.          

Council wishes to thank Belinda Russell for stepping into the Acting CAO role during this recruitment campaign, and for the rest of the administrative team who all contributed to keeping things running smoothly since the departure of our long serving CAO, Brian Allen, who took a similar role with our neighbour (the MD of Peace No. 135) in July of this year.

Olive is very much looking forward to working with the Council, the administration and operations teams, as well as meeting more residents and businesses within the Town of Grimshaw.  Please join us in welcoming Olive into her new role.
