Council Meeting Highlights - January 14, 2026
- Allen Gukert with APEX Security provided Council with a presentation on night patrols for the Town of Grimshaw.
- Energy Alberta provided Council with a presentation outlining the Draft Concept Overview: Community Working Group to Collaborate on Socio-Economic Studies Related to the proposed Peace River Nuclear Power Project. This presentation covered the Peace River Nuclear Power Project, proposed project overview, stakeholder engagement, socio-economic assessment, and next steps in collaboration. Energy Alberta is partnering with local municipalities through a new Community Working Group. One staff member from each municipality will help lead socio-economic studies related to the Peace River Nuclear Power Project.
- Council discussed the traffic study of the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex and Joint School Facility that was conducted by MMSA. This report brought forth main observations, existing walking and driving routes, conflict areas and potential for collisions, short-term suggestions, proposed parking lot changes, and medium to long-term suggestions.
- Council approved sponsorship of $1000 for the Women in the North Conference being held in Grimshaw on April 22, 2026.
- Council approved sponsorship of $3000 for the 2026 Pond Hockey Association event being held on March 6, 7, and 8.
- Council approved a $250 donation in gift cards for the Curling Club Bonspiels for the 2025-2026 season.
- Council appointed CAO Olive Toews as Director of Emergency Management.
- Council approved the extension of the MZRM Concession Agreement from April 30, 2026, to July 1, 2026, to cover the complete school year.
- Council is having an online meeting with MLA Dyck and Minister Ellis’ Office to discuss policing.
