Council Meeting Highlights - February 11, 2026

Here are the highlights from the February 11 Council Meeting:

▪ Peace Regional RCMP, Staff Sargent, Lacey Blair provided a detailed report about community engagement, crime updates, mental health calls, motor vehicle accidents, and theft recovery. She explained that beginning in February 2026, Alberta RCMP detachments will be transitioning to a new Community Priorities Plan (CPP) for the 2026–2027 cycle. This updated approach replaces the previous Annual Performance Plan (APP) and is intended to serve as the primary framework for identifying and tracking policing priorities at the community level.

▪ STARS, Senior Municipal Relations Liaison, Glenda Farnden presented about the critical care that STARS provides. In the last 15 years our area has had 61 STARS missions land for emergencies, transfers and even search and rescue efforts. The Town of Grimshaw is recognized as a Regional Leader with our monetary contributions, showing just how important STARS is to our community and surrounding area.

▪ Northern Alberta Development Council (NADC) member, Tony Shmyruk presented the Report to Minister: Northern Development. NADC has a mandate to investigate, monitor, evaluate, plan and promote measures to foster and advance development in northern Alberta and to advise the government accordingly. Council discussed challenges that they would like to see NADC move forward with and address.

▪ Council agreed to donate Town of Grimshaw swag to the Royal Canadian Legion Grimshaw Branch 253 RCL Command Mixed Darts Tournament.

▪ Council accepted the FCSS Agreement between the County of Northern Lights and the Town of Grimshaw. FCSS programming hosted in Grimshaw is a joint effort with surrounding municipalities.

The next Regular Council Meeting will be February 25, in the Council Chambers. Council would like to welcome residents to attend and view in person. If you wish to speak to our Councillors, please send a written request to CAO@grimshaw.ca and we will add you to the next available agenda.
