Grimshaw Outdoor Swimming Pool Boiler Replacement
Council approved the purchase of a new boiler for the Grimshaw Outdoor Swimming Pool. The current 28-year-old unit failed earlier this summer and, while temporarily repaired, is nearing the end of its life and requires replacement. The total cost including installation is $28,340.

Resident Request
Council approved a request from a resident to keep six chickens, one more than currently permitted under the Animal Control Bylaw 1195. Council directed Administration to prepare an amendment to the bylaw for their consideration and bring it back for Council’s review as similar requests have come from residents in the past.

ATCO Franchise Fees
Council voted to maintain the 2025 ATCO Electric franchise fees at the current rates for 2026. Electricity will remain at 6% and the natural gas rate will remain at 30%.

STARS’ 40th Anniversary Celebration
Council authorized Deputy Mayor Stacey Messner to attend the STARS 40th Anniversary Celebration in Grande Prairie on October 8, 2025, from 11:00 a.m. to 2:00 p.m.

Energy Alberta Peace River Nuclear Project Engagement
Council reviewed an invitation and confirmed their attendance at the Energy Alberta Peace River Nuclear Project engagement session, scheduled for September 24, 2025, at the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex from 4:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. More information is available at grimshaw.ca.

September 24 Council Meeting Start Time Changed
Council moved to change the start time of the September 24, 2025, Regular Council Meeting from 7:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. to allow members of Council to attend the Energy Alberta Peace River Nuclear Project engagement session, also scheduled for that evening.

Northern Alberta Tourism Summit
Council reviewed the agenda for the Northern Alberta Tourism Summit in Grande Prairie on November 17–18, 2025, and authorized that a current sitting member of the Mighty Peace Tourism Committee be in attendance. Council also approved a sponsorship request and voted to provide $500 in support of the event. Misty Velichka, Economic Development Officer with Lac Cardinal Regional Economic Development, is also scheduled to attend the event.

Youth for Christ Agreement Termination
Council approved a request to terminate the current Youth for Christ Agreement 30 days early due to increased registrations and the need for more space. The youth program, under the umbrella of Youth for Christ, is currently housed and operated in the Town of Grimshaw Administration Office. Council also directed Administration to advertise the space as available for prospective groups.

Transportation Routing and Vehicle Information System Agreement
Council reviewed and approved the continuation of the Transportation Routing and Vehicle Information System agreement, which enables trucking companies to utilize Town of Grimshaw roads for oversized equipment and loads, providing compensation for wear and tear on local infrastructure.

Long Lake Regional Waste Management Agreement
Council reviewed the proposed agreement with the Long Lake Regional Waste Management Commission. Council accepted the agreement as information and directed Administration to include the proposed 2% fee increase in the Schedule of Fees Bylaw and bring it back for Council’s consideration at the first Council meeting in October. 

The next regular Council Meeting will be held on September 24, 2025 at 8 pm. Council meetings are open to the public and held at the Town of Grimshaw Administration Office in Council Chambers.
