Council Highlights - June 11/25

Summer Council Meeting Schedule
Council voted to hold one meeting per month for July and August, which will be held on July 23 and August 27, 2025. The July 9 and August 13, 2025, meeting dates have been cancelled.

North Peace Stampede Sponsorship Request
Council reviewed a sponsorship request from the North Peace Stampede Association and approved $1,000 in funding to support the North Peace Stampede Professional Rodeo and Chuckwagon Races. The event will be held at the Lac Cardinal Recreation Area from August 1 to 3, 2025. Learn more at northpeacestampede.com


CAO Resignation and Recruitment
Council received and accepted the formal resignation from Brian Allen from his position as the Chief Administrative Officer (CAO) for the Town of Grimshaw. Brian accepted the CAO position with the MD of Peace, and his last day with the Town is July 11, 2025. Council extended gratitude to Brian for his service and wished him well in his new role. Recruitment efforts are underway to fill the position. View the media release at grimshaw.ca.


Mackenzie Municipal Services Agency Agreement

Council requested that the agency Executive Director Services Contract with MMSA be terminated effective July 11, 2025, and that administration draft a letter notifying the  MMSA executive. 


Commemorative Crosswalk Painting Policy
Council approved the Commemorative Crosswalk Painting Policy that outlines a process for community members to apply for crosswalk designs that honour significant people, events, or causes. Applications must meet safety, design, and material standards, require Council approval, and include a one-year maintenance commitment by the applicant.

Media and Communications Policy
Council reviewed and approved the Media and Communications Policy with proposed revisions applied. The policy outlines processes and guidelines for internal and external communications for the Town of Grimshaw.

Lane Closure Bylaw 1215

Council passed three readings to Bylaw No. 1215, a revision to Bylaw No. 1210, to formally close a portion of the laneway located in Plan 7820551 and Plan 6734KS (Block 21, Lot J area) to public travel. The closure was approved in accordance with Section 22 of the Municipal Government Act, as the laneway is no longer required for public access. 


The next Town of Grimshaw Council meeting will be held at 7 pm on June 25, 2025.
