Council Meeting Highlights - November 26, 2025

Grimshaw Public School Parliament

Abby Stone and Ciara Kamphius gave a presentation to Council about the upcoming Christmas in the Community event. The event will take place December 5, 2025 at the Grimshaw Public School from 4:00pm to 5:45pm, with kid’s activities, donation stations, and a free Christmas supper before the Grimshaw Christmas parade.

Growing the North 2026 Conference

Council authorized to send two members, Mayor Messner and Councillor Sklapsky, to the Grande Prairie conference on February 17-19, 2026.

Economic Development for Elected Officials and Fundamentals for Rural Economic Development

Council agreed to send two Councillors to attend Economic Development for Elected Officials in person on February 20, 2026.

APEX Security – Nightly Patrol Services

Council received a letter from APEX Security, who is interested in speaking to Council about conducting nightly patrol services in Grimshaw. Council directed Administration to invite APEX Security to present at a future Council Meeting.  

Stone Brook – Request for Assistance

Council received a request for assistance from Stone Brook and directed Administration to invite Stone Brook to present at a future Council Meeting.

Grimshaw W.I. Cemetery Grass Cutting Contract

Council reviewed the submitted tenders for the Grimshaw W.I. Cemetery Grass Cutting Contract. Council moved in favour of a three-year contract with Juniper Yard and Garden Care for the Grimshaw W.I. Cemetery Grass Cutting.

FCM Conference 2026

Council authorized to send Mayor Messner to this conference held in Edmonton from June 4-7, 2026.  More than 1,500 elected officials will be attending the FCM’s 2026 Annual Conference and Trade Show, which is Canada’s largest pan-Canadian gathering of elected officials.

Appointment of Bylaw Officer

Council approved the appointment of Lucien Dubois to the Designated Officer position of Bylaw Enforcement Officer for the Town of Grimshaw.

Webinar Invitation – Exploring Nuclear Energy in Alberta

Council moved that all members attend this webinar on December 2, 2025.

Council approved the first reading of Bylaw No. 1216 – Fees Bylaw.
