Highlights from Jan 8/25 Council Meeting

Grimshaw Municipal Library Update
Grimshaw Municipal Library Manager Vivianne Gayton and Board Chair Carolyn Gerk provided Council with an update on library operations. Serving the community, surrounding area, Grimshaw Public School, and Holy Family School, the library is a vital resource offering access to materials from across the province. Staffed by a team of six, the library is attached to the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex and provides diverse programming, activities and events for all ages and interests, including (but not limited to) Little Learners, after-school activities, Chess Club, movie nights, Homeroutes live music concerts, and the annual Festival of Mini Trees. Community Health Centre Security issues
Council reviewed a letter of response from Alberta Health Services regarding a letter of concern sent by the Town of Grimshaw Council regarding ongoing security issues at the Grimshaw/Berwyn and District Community Health Center. AHS indicated that the letter of concern resulted in a facility review and enhanced safety measures are being implemented.

Meeting with the Peace River School Division Board of Trustees
Council discussed attendance at the February 5, 2025 meeting with the Peace River School Division (PRSD) Board of Trustees and neighbouring municipalities. Council members wishing to attend are to notify Administration prior to January 18, 2025. The annual meeting strengthens relationships, creates greater awareness and encourages collaboration and community partnerships.

Community Services Advisory Board Appointment
Council approved the appointment of Gilanne Cambridge to serve on the Town of Grimshaw Community Serivces Advisory Board as a member-at-large.
