Vision 2030 Strategic Plan
Council discussed the Town of Grimshaw Strategic Plan and voted to schedule a separate meeting on March 25, 2025, to allow for time to review the plan in detail. The plan outlines the Town of Grimshaw’s priorities, which include Human Resources Planning and Programming, Economic Development, Recreation, Tourism, Water Security and Development, and Regional Collaboration.
North Peace Housing Foundation Municipal Requisition
Council reviewed the North Peace Housing Foundation Municipal Requisition that outlines costs to support seniors’ lodges in the region and funding allocations to supporting area municipalities. The 2025 requisition reflects a 2% inflationary increase. Council moved to include the requisition for discussions during budget deliberations.
Women in the North Conference Sponsorship Request
Council approved a sponsorship request from Community Futures Peace Country for the 2025 Women in the North Conference in the amount of $250. This annual conference offers professional development and networking opportunities for women in the region. This year's conference will take place on May 6, 2025, in Manning and on May 8, 2025, in Peace River, with a focus on team building.
2025 Salary Grid
Council has approved updates to the 2025 Town of Grimshaw Salary Grid, effective January 1, 2025. The changes include a 2.5% cost of living adjustment and adjustments to Public Works salaries to align with comparable municipalities in the region
ATCO Franchise Agreement
Council reviewed correspondence from the Alberta Utilities Commission regarding the required reapproval of Franchise Agreements. Reapproval is required by the Alberta Utilities Commission to reflect amendments to the Municipal Government Act and Gas Utilities Act that came into effect in 2024.
Policy Work
Council reviewed draft policies for the Mile Zero Regional Multiplex regarding access control for sports storage and the purchasing and maintenance of field house athletic and program equipment. Council has requested revisions to the policies, which will be brought back for further consideration.
