Council Meeting Highlights - May 13, 2026
Here are the highlights from the May 13 Council Meeting:
• Director of Community Services, Tracy Halerewich, presented information to Council about the new FCSS Mandate; and the volunteer, youth, family, and senior programs that are offered to the community.
• Fire Chief, Lawrence Arnold, presented a monthly activity report for March and April to Council.
• Council approved providing porta-potties and garbage cans to the Grimshaw Minor Soccer Club for the 2026 soccer season.
• Town of Grimshaw Council proclaimed the week of May 17–23, 2026, as National Public Works Week. The year 2026 marks the 66th annual National Public Works Week sponsored by the American Public Works Association/Canadian Public Works Association.
• Town of Grimshaw Council proclaimed May 25 to 29, 2026, as Alberta Rural Health Week in the Town of Grimshaw. Rural healthcare providers are essential to the strength and well-being of our communities. Residents are encouraged to recognize and celebrate the individuals and teams who bring care closer to home and contribute to a strong future for rural healthcare.
• Council directed Administration to apply for the ATCO Community Energy Fund to upgrade all the ceiling fixtures in the Kennedy gymnasium to LED. ATCO's Community Energy Fund supports local organizations in Alberta communities where ATCO operates by investing in projects that advance energy education, efficiency, and innovation.
• Council approved the development application, with conditions, for LOT 7 BLOCK 1 PLAN 86HW in the Direct Control District.
• Council rescheduled the first Regular Council Meeting in November to November 12, 2026, as the originally scheduled date falls on Remembrance Day.
